During my formative years of college education, I sought refuge in street plays and campus theatre to satisfy and fuel the urge to express. The stage provided a learning playground for an enthusiastic actor and the embers kept on glowing. Years later, after playing the role of an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, when life offered an opportunity to get back and seek ones root, I followed it.

Having returned to home ground, with some investment capital and even more urge to live the dream, we set up a film production company. Silicon Media.  Any film industry always welcomes new producers. Most of them eye the capital and a few recognize the passion. Like any other new entrant, I initially was led into a path, expensive and futile, but a quick correction and timely bail out bought me back to what I really wanted to do.

Sufi Paranja Katha is an upcoming Malayalam movie directed by Priya Nandan. Sufi Paranja Katha is the fascinating story of the subtle relationships existing between Hindu and Muslim families in the early nineteenth century.

The plot develops around the marriage between Mammootty (prakash), a Muslim, and Karthy (Sharbani Mukherjee), a Hindu. Eventually they marry and Karthy gets converted to Islam. But she was unable to resist the customs and longings she had for her own religion.

The film is produced under the banner of Silicon Media by Prakash Bare who is also the hero in association with Thambi Antony who has burned his fingers with Blessy�s Calcutta News.

In an industry that has been losing money year on year,  where only Star studded cinema, is considered viable, what I was embarking on was not a money making venture, not a proposal making exercise to win over stakeholders. The team, the content , and the intent was to create an everlasting piece of art, which I would relish and be proud of, despite the result. A childhood dream, that I passionately followed, is ready, waiting in cans to hit the silver screen this weekend. few months ago, we the core team comprising of Priyanandan, myself and few others were discussing in a google group, exchanging photos, profiles trying to cast Karthy, Avaru Musaliyar, Shanku Nair , Maamotty and Sufi… Its wonderful to see them come to life on screen, when Sufi was screened to a jampacked audience in IFFK 2009.
